Europese dwergpalm (Chamaerops humilis)
Chamaerops humilis is a compact, clumping European palm with distinctive fan-shaped leaves. It is an excellent choice for creating a Mediterranean atmosphere in gardens, patios and containers.
This slow-growing palm produces several stems from the base, creating a naturally full, bushy appearance. Its sturdy palmate leaves range from green to grey-green and give the plant a strong Mediterranean character. Once established, the European fan palm is drought tolerant and is also notably hardy for a Mediterranean palm. It performs best in full sun, preferably in a sheltered position, with very well-drained soil. Its compact habit also makes it particularly suitable for large containers on terraces and patios.
