Butterfly Bush (Buddleja davidii)

Fast-growing flowering shrub with long flower panicles that attract butterflies and many other pollinators.

Category:

Buddleja davidii is a vigorous deciduous shrub that flowers abundantly in summer and late summer. Its long flower panicles appear on new shoots and range from white and pink to red, lilac and purple depending on the cultivar. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Hard pruning in late winter keeps the plant compact and encourages a strong display of flowers.

Care

Water during dry periods, especially young and container-grown plants. Feed in spring and prune hard in February or March. Remove spent flower panicles to keep the plant tidy and encourage continued flowering.
